Careers & Pathways

Where math takes you.

Math is the on-ramp to some of the most interesting careers on earth. Here's a map of where the coursework can lead — plus how we help you get there.

Students discussing math career paths

Career pathways powered by math

Engineering

Calc I–III, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations. Physics-heavy majors lean on multivariable calc.

Finance & Quant

Calculus, probability, stochastic processes, linear algebra. Programming + statistics.

Data Science / ML

Linear algebra, calculus, statistics, discrete math. Python + a stats-heavy elective.

Actuarial

Probability, stats, financial math. Pass SOA/CAS exams (P and FM come first).

Research / Academia

Real analysis, abstract algebra, topology. Strong proof-writing foundation.

Teaching

Content mastery through calc + a math education program or credential.

Where students go next

Some paths our students have taken.

Amara O.
Aerospace engineering, TU Delft

Started with AP Calc AB tutoring in 11th grade.

Marcus L.
Quant intern at a NYC prop shop

Rebuilt his linear algebra fundamentals in one summer.

Priya K.
Data science, University of Toronto

Went from a B- to an A in AP Statistics in a single term.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Not always. A strong math core paired with CS, statistics, or a domain skill (finance, physics, biology) opens most of these doors.

Advice we give every student

Master the fundamentals early

Algebra fluency compounds. Every advanced course assumes it — the students who struggle in Calc almost always struggle in Algebra II.

Learn to write proofs

Once you cross Calc II, most math is about reasoning, not computation. Start early.

Pair math with one applied skill

Python, statistics, or a physics/econ minor makes your math degree wildly more employable.

Don't fear the hard course

The hardest course you take is usually the one that opens the most doors. Get help — don't skip.
